Reporting to the Chief of Clinical Operations, the Staff Development Manager will develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive plan for meeting the educational needs of the health care center staff. He/she will plan, develop, implement, direct, evaluate and coordinate the education curriculum for direct and non-direct care staff, in addition to constructing class schedules, clinical training schedules, orientation programs and in-service training classes.
The finalist candidate will have knowledge of current professional nursing theory and practice, educational and psychology theory, and skill in instructional techniques and will be a person of high integrity who is confident, relaxed and positive in their approach to issues and people and capable of instilling a service ethic in clinical managers and staff at all levels. He/she will have knowledge of long-term care practices and procedures, regulations and guidelines that pertain to skilled nursing facilities, and a high degree of technical capability, and proficiency and knowledge in working with computers. A minimum of five years of successful nursing experience in a similar environment, part of which is in a supervisory, leadership and/or training capacity is required. He/she must possess an active Registered Nurse license in the state of Maryland, with a BSN preferred.

He/she will establish goals, objectives, and standards of performance, as well as developing operating policies and procedures, and will be an individual who can connect and build positive relationships with family members, residents, and staff, can think and act independently within organizational parameters, can lead and support organizational change, and can function effectively as part of a team.
The finalist candidate will have exceptional clinical and operational knowledge, with a strong Medicare background that includes a successful track record in regulatory compliance. He/she will have a minimum of five years of successful and progressive experience in a nurse manager leadership role and must possess an active Registered Nurse license in the state of Maryland, with a BSN preferred.
